The conference offers a unique format of multiple keynotes throughout the three days. Sessions and themes are designed to address the key navigation topics — not only from a technical perspective but also regulatory, ethical, cognitive and human factors. The conference is complemented by an exhibition, with the program designed to enable plenty of networking and interaction. The conference venue is in the heart of Bristol. NOV. 13-16 INTERNATIONAL TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM ON NAVIGATION AND TIMING (ITSNT) Toulouse, France The International Technical Symposium on Navigation and Timing (ITSNT) is an annual event organized by CNES (Centre national d'études spatiales) and ENAC (Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile) for professionals and researchers working with or interested in navigation and timing technologies and their use. This year's event is taking place this week, Nov. 13-16, in Toulouse, France, on the campus of ENAC. The event is composed of two types of sessions: "Invited Guest" sessions: special guests are invited by the scientific committee to give a presentation related to the generic topic of the session. Typically, there are four guest speakers per session, and the session ends with a round table. "Peer Reviewed Paper"sessions: the presenters of these sessions are selected by the scientific committee based on a call for abstract The ITSNT also provides a great environment for networking and visiting the sponsors' exhibition stands. The symposium includes tutorials given by some of the invited guest speakers on their topic of excellence. < technical-symposium-on-navigation-and-timing- held-this-week-in-toulouse-france/> NOV. 16 EUROPEAN SPACE TALKS Munich, Germany European Space Talks, an initiative powered by the European Space Agency (ESA), aims to make European citizens more aware about the investment needed for space activities and the unique benefits that they can deliver. January 2019 JAN. 28-29 COGNIZANT AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS FOR SAFETY CRITICAL APPLICATIONS (CASSCA) Reston, Virginia, USA The Institute of Navigation (ION) is holding a two-day conference on Cognizant Autonomous Systems for Safety Critical Applications (CASSCA). The conference will be held January 28-29, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Virginia. The conference includes two full days of presentations and discussions on the opportunities and challenges associated with developing fully autonomous systems that are cognizant and trustworthy for safety-critical applications by leading experts in the field. Forward-thinking leaders will be presenting on a variety of important issues, including: Aerial Vehicle Autonomy; Ground Vehicle Autonomy; Marine Vehicle Autonomy; Ethics and Policy; Human-Machine Symbiosis. The conference is being held in coordination with the ITM/PTTI 2019 conference and in parallel with the PTTI tutorials. Prof. Zak Kassas, University of California, Riverside, is the General Chair for CASSCA, while Dr. Robert Leishman, Air Force Institute of Technology, will serve as Technical Program Chair. < state-of-the-art-in-autonomous-vehicles- development-the-focus-of-cassca-conference/> JAN. 29-31 PRECISE TIME AND TIME INTERVAL SYSTEMS AND APPLICATIONS Reston, Virginia, USA The Precise Time and Time Interval Systems and Applications (PTTI) meeting is an annual conference sponsored by ION with a technical program designed to disseminate and coordinate PTTI information at the user level, review present and future PTTI requirements, inform government and industry engineers, technicians, and managers of precise time and frequency technology and its problems, and provide an opportunity for an active exchange of new technology associated with PTTI. In 2019, PTTI will be co-located with the ION International Technical Meeting, in Reston, Virginia. A commercial exhibit and pre-conference tutorials are held in conjunction with the conference. Tutorials will be offered on January 28; technical sessions will take place January 29-31.
